Professional golfers and a good cause drew over 71,000 patrons to the Newport Beach Country Club, where guests also engaged in exciting activities at the Hoag Fan Experience lounge.
From Wednesday, March 20, through Sunday, March 24, thousands gathered at the Newport Beach Country Club for the 2024 Hoag Classic, Orange County’s only PGA TOUR Champions event. This year’s impressive roster included World Golf Hall of Fame legends and other major championship winners, including Darren Clarke, Fred Couples, David Duval, John Daly, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Colin Montgomerie, Vijay Singh, and Steve Stricker. Offsetting two final-round double bogeys with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 17 and 18, Padraig Harrington took home the Hoag Classic title, claiming his seventh win on the PGA TOUR Champions.
Over the years, the Hoag Classic has earned the reputation as one of the most successful philanthropic events on the PGA TOUR Champions. With a total of more than $25 million raised to date for Hoag and a dozen local charities, the tournament continues to uphold the distinction and make a meaningful impact on our community.
On Sunday, March 24, Hoag Classic sponsor Kingston Technology held its annual Scholarship Fund Award Breakfast, which celebrated donors and scholarship recipients supported in growing their careers at Hoag. Through advanced training and higher education, these Hoag employees are continuing to elevate patient care. Kingston Technology likewise sponsored Student Day on Sunday, providing students 18 and under with complimentary admission to the Classic.
Making the tournament especially engaging was the return of the Hoag Fan Experience, an interactive lounge space near the tournament’s entrance that offered guests a cornucopia of fun. Participants collaborated in creating a mural wall, played family-friendly games of ping-pong, competed in a long-putt challenge, and captured memories of the day. The lounge also featured a Boldly Hoag shoe cleaning station to keep guests’ kicks looking fresh and an interactive hologram where visitors could meet and engage with a Hoag physician and staff members from digital concierge service Hoag Compass. Second-floor seating provided fans with views of the golf course and a place to rest and recharge with refreshments. Of course, the experience wouldn’t have been complete without prizes and plenty of Hoag swag.
