Thanks to the generosity of our philanthropic community, Hoag is able to support career advancement initiatives that empower our workforce and elevate the care we provide. It began with our nursing scholarship program, strengthened by the generous support of the Argyros family through the Julia Argyros Center for Nursing Excellence, which provides nurses with crucial funding for advanced education. The Argyros family's $15 million gift in 2024 builds on a legacy of philanthropy, totaling over $32 million, that has provided thousands of scholarships to Hoag nurses, empowering them to pursue higher education and enhance patient care.
Hoag is committed to attracting top talent but also to fostering an environment where our employees can grow, thrive, and advance in their careers. In 2017, the Employee Education Scholarship Fund was launched to create equal opportunities for career advancement. This impactful program was made possible by founding gifts from Hoag leadership and physicians. The fund provides scholarships of up to $5,000 for non-nursing employees who are actively pursuing education to grow their careers at Hoag.
