This appointment reflects the profound impact of philanthropy in advancing innovative, minimally invasive treatments in digestive health.
Internationally recognized leader in digestive health Kenneth Chang, MD, has been appointed as the inaugural holder of the James & Pamela Muzzy Executive Medical Director Endowed Chair in GI Cancer, Digestive Health Institute, at Hoag. This newly established chair, made possible through the generosity of James and Pamela Muzzy, marks a significant step forward in our commitment to advancing patient care and research.
In July, Dr. Chang began serving as the executive medical director of the Hoag Digestive Health Institute, where his innovative work continues to transform the landscape of GI medicine. Under his leadership, the institute has implemented leading-edge treatments that provide better outcomes for patients. As the holder of this new endowed chair, Dr. Chang will continue to drive research and explore novel therapies for gastrointestinal cancers, including diagnostics and treatments of pre-cancer, while also expanding Hoag’s capabilities in treating a broad spectrum of digestive health conditions.
“The creation of this chair is a meaningful and transformative development for Hoag, made possible by the extraordinary generosity of the Muzzys,” said Dr. Chang. “With this support, we are empowered to make Hoag a destination center for innovative, minimally invasive treatments in digestive health. I am honored to step into this inaugural position, to collaborate with our colleagues at the Hoag Family Cancer Institute, and continue our pursuit of innovation and excellence in the service of our community. My dream is to make Orange County esophagus and colon cancer-free.”
This appointment is a testament to the impact of philanthropy on advancing medical care. It is through the support of donors like James and Pamela Muzzy that Hoag remains at the forefront of innovation, bringing the latest advancements to our community.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Chang on this significant appointment and in expressing our gratitude to the Muzzys for their vision and commitment to improving health care in our community.
