A Bold Future for Women’s Health on Hoag’s Sun Family Campus

As the busiest maternity hospital and highest-volume breast cancer provider in California, women throughout Orange County and beyond turn to Hoag with their most intimate health care needs.

Their trust is emboldening Hoag’s commitment to making the best care more convenient and accessible to more women. Through the Boldly Hoag campaign, a philanthropic initiative to support the expansion of Hoag’s Sun Family Campus in Irvine, a new Women’s Hospital Pavilion, with inpatient and outpatient wings, will bring additional services to Irvine residents and surrounding communities.

The new space, scheduled to be complete in 2026, will unite leading-edge technology and compassionate care through a team of specialists working together for each patient. The inpatient wing of the pavilion will house 24 labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum suites, a combined 21 antepartum and postpartum rooms, and a dedicated OB triage for patients who may otherwise have gone to the emergency department. Six specialty birthing suites designed for midwives and doulas will feature a built-in tub for those who have integrated water into their birth plans. Additionally, a new neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) will enable families who require this level of care to remain together postpartum, with 17 new NICU beds.

Connected to the inpatient wing by a wellness garden and glass sky bridge to incorporate the healing elements of nature, the outpatient wing will include a new comprehensive breast center with advanced imaging technology as well as physician offices for Orange Coast Women’s Medicine Group and Hoag’s maternal fetal medicine specialists. Thoughtful design elements throughout the state-of-the-art facility support a collaborative approach to care and the extension of high-ranking programs found at Hoag’s Newport Beach campus.
