An Innovative New Space for Newport Beach Emergency Care

Hoag’s Newport Beach emergency department is expanding to ensure patients are treated faster.

Our community is experiencing an increasing need for emergency department (ED) services. To accommodate this growth in patient volume and deliver the enhanced patient experience Hoag is known for, Hoag Hospital Newport Beach opened the One North Emergency Department on July 16. Philanthropic support from Hoag's generous donors helped bring the project to fruition.

Located adjacent to the main entrance of the Joan & Andy Fimiano Emergency Pavilion near patient drop-off, One North treats patients with less urgent medical issues, increasing the emergency department’s capacity to care for those experiencing more critical issues, like heart attack, stroke, and more. Patients referred to One North by Hoag’s ED physicians and nurses include those with minor burns or lacerations, headache, rash, minor injury, and mild abdominal pain, among other conditions.

At 5,500 square feet, the One North Emergency Department includes 11 exam spaces and a new waiting lounge to streamline operations and increase our ED capacity to care for our community. This increased efficiency of care improves both patient and staff experiences and expands access to Hoag’s high-quality care for more people in Orange County, a core pillar of Hoag’s vision for the future of whole-person health care.
