Choose Nursing, Choose Hoag

There is a critical shortage of new nurses coming into the healthcare workforce. This stems largely from a limited capacity in nursing schools that is impacting the supply of qualified graduates. Chronically under-funded, nursing schools are unable to staff additional professors and waiting lists for new students can top two years.

With this in mind, Hoag Hospital Foundation established the Choose Nursing, Choose Hoag (CNCH) taskforce, comprised of a team of community leaders and volunteers, to raise awareness and support for Hoag nursing. The CNCH initiative, which raised the funds necessary to build the Marion Knott Nursing Education Center at Hoag, generates ongoing funding for professorships at local nursing schools as well as nursing scholarships and continuing education for Hoag nurses.
