52nd Annual Christmas Carol Ball

Festive holiday gala raised more than $1.3 million in support of Hoag

Newport Beach, CA (December 12, 2018) – Hoag Hospital Foundation welcomed more than 600 Hoag supporters, volunteers and friends to the Monarch Beach Resort to celebrate the 52nd Annual Christmas Carol Ball on Saturday, December 8, 2018. This year’s Christmas Carol Ball raised more than $1.3 million to support Hoag.

Guests were greeted in a video presentation featuring Pei-yuan Chia and Kitty Shen, co-chairs of this year’s gala. “What makes this night even merrier is that it is a significant fund raiser for Hoag,” Pei said. “Hoag couldn’t be what it is without your support.”

Hoag Director of Pastoral Care Reverend Don Oliver, Ph.D. led the blessing over a beautiful dinner prepared by Executive Chef Collin Thornton. The crowd enjoyed a live performance by the energetic band, NRG and danced the night away, many taking home silent auction items donated by friends of Hoag.

“Thank you to Pei-yuan and Kitty, extraordinary friends of Hoag. We appreciate their support and leadership as Christmas Carol Ball co-chairs and underwriters,” said Flynn A. Andrizzi, Ph.D., president of the Hoag Hospital Foundation. “We’re also truly grateful for the generosity of our underwriters who embody the spirit of giving that has symbolized the Christmas Carol Ball for 52 years and counting.”

Andrizzi added that the Hoag Promise Campaign has raised $562 million to date, bringing the Hoag Hospital Foundation to 90 percent of its $627 million goal by December 31, 2020.
